What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

This has got to take the cake. How many people walk around with Ipods or other music devices that have earphones on them while really obnoxious people go around with cell phones that blare out loud without the common courtesy of putting their cell phones on vibrate while in public? How many blare those obnoxious tunes at the highest possible levels?

If anything, I find cell phones blaring tunes more annoying than an IPod with a headset for single-person use.

I have an Ipod and I have a Rio Forge Sport. Each one has behind the ear headphones and I use a set of noise-canceling Bose headsets with them as well to drown out the children when they play video games on the television in the living room, which is usually where I do my work. I asked my daughters if they could hear my Ipod music over the headsets a few minutes after reading the article. Both agreed they could not - I play my music players at fairly high levels as well because of the years I spent going to concerts. I have excellent hearing - subsonic if you ask my children since I can hear what they are up to on the other side of a 1600+ sq ft house. (grin) They hate it but it's reasonable considering I am legally blind. I listen to books in audio format and music, mostly music my children do not like so this is why I normally wear headsets.

While I have an excellent voice and have spent my time in front of audiences singing, the only time I tend to sing along with the music players is when I am home alone cleaning or when cutting the grass on the riding mower. Yes, before anyone asks, it is possible for a blind person to cut grass using a walking and riding mower. All it requires is learning the outlay of the yard and placing one's foot down on the ground ever so often to be sure you are within the lines. I miss a lot of areas but the girls' dad comes over and mows the areas I miss and he does all the weed-eating or weed-whacking depending on where you are from; I call it weed-eating. Either way, it is the trim work. He has to cut the area within my guide dog's free run because it is too narrow for me to cut and turn around with the extremely limited sight. I am sure the sound of the Cub Cadet drowns out my singing along with the music on my Ipod, which I normally use because of the case and strap I purchased for it.

This man should get a life or use his own Ipod while flying about the country. I do when I fly. I use noise-canceling headphones on the plane. It works wonders against others nearby and most importantly loud crying babies and loud children.

Perhaps I should lower my heartbeat for him? Wouldn't want to irk him anymore then we already have! How did he get his own sound ordinance level zone?
